This has been launched and welcomes applications from independent artists residing in the tri-county area (Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas).
Portland’s Creative Laureate, Subashini Ganesan, and Oregon’s Poet Laureate, Kim Stafford, have established an emergency relief fund to begin meeting the growing needs for artists in our tri-county area in the face of income instability as a result COVID-19.
At launch time they had received $55,000 in donations with a lead gift from Ronni Lacroute, a sponsorship grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council, and donations from 25 community members, including SE Uplift.
“We need a lot more dollars to meet the devastating essential needs of our artistic community, so we ask everyone who is able to visit the site and donate generously.”
Supporting Kim and Suba is a growing consortium of organizations. They are helping with bringing in donors, publicity, and assuring that we are meeting the needs of diverse independent artists in our town.
