Overview

Presented by Friends of Chamber Music and The Reser

A baroque band with a fresh, visceral approach, Ruckus aims to fuse the early music movement’s questing, creative spirit with the grit, groove, and jangle of American roots music, creating a unique sound. Time traveling through four centuries of reimagined songs, hymns, and ballads, Ruckus and path-breaking singer Davóne Tines have created an extraordinary program commemorating our country’s anniversary year.

“The world’s only period-instrument rock band.” San Francisco Classical Voice
“Davóne Tines is changing what it means to be a classical singer.” The New Yorker

Program: What is Your Hand in This?
The 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence demands we acknowledge that the quest for a better world continues through the present moment. Time traveling through four centuries of reimagined songs, hymns and ballads, the intrepidearly music band Ruckus and pathbreaking singer and creator Davóne Tines converge to deliver the bite of America’s revolutionary musics in order to ask the simple question: “What is your hand in this?”
