Meet Justin Fisher, the cover artist for this issue of InSymphony Kids. The Oregon Symphony selected Justin’s art from the many spectacular submissions of the Castles and Wizards coloring page in the Kids Activity Book. Congratulations, Justin! We hope you enjoy the show!

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Justin, and I’m ten years old. I’m in fifth grade at Carson Elementary in Carson, Washington. I like baseball, Legos, dirt bikes, playing video games, and I think wizards are cool.

Do you play any instruments, or would you like to someday?

I’ve been playing the piano for almost a year now. I think that it’s the greatest instrument ever.

How did you get the Oregon Symphony’s Kid’s Activity Book?

My mom got an email and showed me the activity book. I really liked the Castles and Wizards page.

What made you choose the coloring page of the wizard and castle to send to the Symphony?

I thought that it would be awesome to play the piano inside a castle. I’d really like to do that someday.

What’s your favorite color? What kinds of things do you like to draw?

My favorite color is blue, especially iridescent blue. I like to draw wizards, swords, dragons, and knights.

We hear that the Castles and Wizards concert will be the first time you see the Oregon Symphony perform. What are you most excited about when you think about going to the show?

I’m most excited to hear all the Harry Potter songs played by a real-life symphony.

Which Harry Potter book is your favorite?

I have to go with The Sorcerer’s Stone.

If you could have any magical power, what would you choose?

I would choose to be able to throw fire from my hands and to be fire-resistant.

What do you imagine would be the coolest part about living in a castle?

I think that it would be cool to have the biggest dining hall ever because I love food so much.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you get to stay out past bedtime?

My favorite thing to do is to take road trips up to Seattle with my family to watch the Mariners play baseball. We always have a lot of fun on the long drive and get home really late.
